Emma E. Houston works to shift mindsets, practices and systems within the social sector to increase awareness around diversity, inclusion and equity. Her work creates inclusive spaces that celebrate, acknowledge, embrace and understand the overachieving umbrella of diversity, inclusion and equity. She helps organizations define, implement and advance diversity, equity and inclusion.
A longtime community volunteer, Houston was appointed in 2016 as diversity and inclusion director by Mayor Ben McAdams and currently works with the leadership of Mayor Jenny Wilson for Salt Lake County’s Office of Diversity Affairs. Gov. Herbert also appointed Houston as the chair of the Utah MLK Commission.
Houston holds a BS in business management and an MBA and is the owner and CEO of Brighter Day Productions, LLC. She was named one of the “30 Women to Watch” for her work with diversity and inclusion by Utah Business magazine and Living Color Utah.
